Counting the Omer with Visual Journaling - Day 9

Today is the 9th day, making one week and 2 days of the Omer.  Strength within Strength, Gevurah within Gevurah.  Gevurah has been interpreted as Strength or Discipline, but also Judgement, Justice, Discernment, Restraint, and Awe.  And this year it falls on the anniversary of the assassination of Rev.Martin Luther King.

At a meeting tonight, our Rabbi, Linda Holtzman, told about speaking at an interfaith Good Friday gathering of Heeding God's Call, a group that counters gun violence. The discipline and restraint of maintaining a nonviolent path in the face of continued violence surely is the great strength of Gevurah energy. Maintaining hope at the darkest hour is Gevurah energy. This is a strength I want to be infused with.  It is awe inspiring.

It is wonderful to count the Omer with a vast virtual community.  It was extra special tonight to count with a small group of real live friends who I know personally!
